Free and Cheap Science Class Apps for the iPhone [Presentation]

This year I got my first ‘smart’ phone and have been playing with free and/or really cheap apps that might be of use in Science class. Many of the students in my school have iPhones or other smart devices – at least enough to make pairs or small groups. This presentation is a selection of those I use the most or like and would like students to make use of, too.

If you have any favourite – free or cheap – apps that you make use of in Science class, let us know in the comments below.

  1. For iPad–Keynote–9.95, but allows you to use your MS power points as well. Will save presentations in a number of formats to be used between Microsoft and Apple programs. Has some neat features that Power Point does not.

Dropbox for file sharing of all kinds

Skywalk. Great astronomy app that will show you what the sky looks like above you. $4.99 I think but beautiful with great information on everything in the sky, including satellites.

  2. A tip shared from Murray Smith – make good use of GoogleDocs spreadsheets for data collection. I’ll need to work on this one.
