Sir Ian Wilmut, director of the MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine at Edinburgh University, who led the team that created Dolly the sheep, said: “This is very exciting news, however, it is very important to appreciate that the objective of trials at this stage is to confirm first of all that no harm is done to patients, rather than to look for benefits. Once that has been confirmed then the focus moves on to development and assessment of the new treatment.“
How does Wilmut’s comment demonstrate the precautionary principle as applied to biotechnology?

thank you
You’re welcome!
Thanks for using my image of Pasteur’s experiment on slide 6!
Thanks for producing it, Mike!
Love your site,
Steve
its good for the students. comprehensive type of learning
Hi Stephen
Have you seen this video for cells? I found it kind of cool.
This is cool – thanks for sharing!
Hi I can not open the powerpoint presentation on 2.1 cell theory???? everything else works… any ideas… please help
Neither can I – I don’t know why, as we are using it in class! Must be a SlideShare issue.
Where can I get the answers for the essential biology 02.1 Cell theory file? Thank you! Great help
Hi Juliette,
I don’t have an answer key for these (I don’t use them very often), but most answers are in the links, presentations or on Click4Biology.
Good luck!
Hi Stephen,
I was using one of your Cell Theory slides with my classes, and I think there is a typo on slide #12…shouldn’t it say “45mm” and not “450mm”? I’m a little math-slow sometimes, so maybe I’m missing something, but let me know if this is indeed an error. Thanks!
~Liz
Hi Liz,
You’re right! Well spotted – thanks for letting me know. I’ll change it as soon as possible.
Stephen
Your site is like, so awesome! I truly love it! Congratulations!!
